GENERAL PURPOSE
To provide services that will insure thatGeiger is able to supply customers with products that meet orexceed their expectations. Job function will focus on the creation,development, production, and management of standard and specialwood finishing materials and the methods used to successfully applythem. Duties will require the employee to be actively involved withco-workers on the shop floor, in management, on the quality team,in sales and marketing, and in customer service.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
Advocate safe and environmentally friendly ways ofapplying finish material, using personal protective devices, anddisposing of finishing waste. Creation of ‘stain to match samples’as requested by Stain to Match Database Administrator and/or Salesand Marketing Team. Evaluate properties of standard and specialfinishing materials upon receipt from supplier prior to release tothe production floor per written work instructions.
Evaluate/inspect discrepant materials and/or processes on the shopfloor. Provide corrective actions based on findings. Manage theproduction of marketing related samples. Manufacture of ‘productioncontrol ‘ samples for use as quality references by internal andexternal customers. Support Quality Control Team in the applicationand development of quality control related tools and standards onthe shop floor. Train and instruct Production Staff in the propermethods of material application and finishing related tool usage,Verification of Purchasing Dept., Warehouse, and Productioninventories for standard and special finish materials. Performsadditional responsibilities as requested to achieve businessobjectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, anindividual must be able to perform each essential dutysatisfactorily. Two or more years of relevantproduction wood finishing experience. Formal or on-the-job trainingin wood finishing laboratory procedures Skills and Abilities Colorperception that meets or exceeds requirements specified inCorporate Work Instruction 26. Willing to be flexible with workassignments and work off-shift hours as business needs require.
Clear written and verbal communication skills. Ability to workindependently and as part of a team. Ability to make decisionsbased on a given set of written criteria. Demonstrated ability toeffectively use office automation/communication software and toolscurrently being used in the Geiger office environment as well asBaaN and associated customized software.
