Job Summary:
Shop Technician – Parts Cleaning, Grinding & Handling Duties As a Shop Technician in our manufacturing facility, you will be responsible for preparing and processing metal or mechanical parts through various stages of production. This includes cleaning, grinding, and handling parts with care to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Parts Cleaning:
Clean metal or mechanical components using various hand tools Inspect cleaned parts for contamination or damage Safely handle and dispose of metal and pallets according to company procedures
Parts Grinding:
Operate grinders, sanders, or other finishing tools to smooth or deburr parts Follow specific grinding instructions and tolerances based on work orders or blueprints Ensure consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy Maintain grinding tools and machines, reporting any malfunctions
Parts Handling:
Move and position parts using carts, lifts, or by hand (within safety weight limits) Label, tag, and organize parts for identification and traceability Handle parts with care to avoid damage or contamination Assist in staging materials for the next step in the production process Maintain a clean and orderly workspace to promote safety and efficiency
Skills & Abilities:
Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively Familiarity with basic measurement tools (calipers, gauges) Understanding of safety procedures related to chemicals, grinding equipment, and material handling Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights (e.g., up to 50 lbs)
