Job Summary:

Laser Operator II is an individual who can excel in a fast-paced, Sheetmetal shop environment focusing on on-time delivery of parts. This person must have a strong work ethic, be willing to learn and ask questions about manufacturing processes. They will be responsible for operating lasers and other required equipment for the department. Attention to safety, quality and on time delivery is required. Moderate ability/understanding of blueprint reading is necessary for setup and running the machines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Material handling Load, setup, run and breakdown machines with minimal assistance Must be able to perform checks on produced parts through the department Maintain a neat and orderly work area Operate forklift in a safe manner Function in a safe and reliable manner to prevent personal injury and/or property damage Perform other duties as assigned

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

Moderate ability to read and understand blueprints Understanding of basic inspection equipment Fork truck license

High School diploma or GED required Manufacturing experience preferred Experience in prototyping preferred 2 years’ experience operating laser/punch machines

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time Ability to use hands and fingers to operate computers, equipment, hand/power tools, etc. and handle and feel parts of various size Ability to bend, kneel and crouch occasionally throughout the shift Ability to push, pull or lift 50 lbs. moderately throughout the workday Ability to focus vision for: close vision, color vision, depth perception and adjusting to sharp focus

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Noise conditions can be moderate to extreme. Hearing protection will be provided if needed and/or by request Exposure to fumes and/or airborne particles Moving mechanical parts and vibration Fast-paced environment

WORK HOURS

5 – 8-hour shifts OR 4 – 10-hour shifts Overtime as necessary Flexible scheduling in agreement with supervisor
