Job Description

Broiler Technical Advisor Columbia Farms of Georgia Inc Oglethorpe, GA 31068 The Broiler Technical Advisor is responsible for providing expert advice and support to growers, focusing on optimizing broiler production. This role involves monitoring broiler health, nutrition, and overall farm management practices to ensure high productivity and profitability. The advisor will work closely with growers and production teams to implement best practices and troubleshoot any issues that arise in broiler production.

Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support:

Provide on-site technical support to broiler farmers, including advice on housing, ventilation, biosecurity, and disease management. Conduct regular farm visits to assess the health and performance of broiler flocks. Offer guidance on the best feeding strategies, including feed formulation and rationing to optimize growth rates and feed conversion ratios. Recommend vaccination schedules and health monitoring programs to prevent and control diseases.

Training and Development:

Conduct training sessions for farm staff on broiler management practices, biosecurity measures, and health protocols. Develop and deliver educational materials, such as guides, manuals, and presentations, to enhance knowledge and skills among farmers and farm staff.

Problem-Solving:

Identify and troubleshoot issues related to broiler production, such as poor growth rates, high mortality, and disease outbreaks. Work with farmers to develop corrective action plans and monitor their implementation. Provide expert advice during emergency situations, such as disease outbreaks or environmental stressors.

Data Collection and Analysis:

Collect and analyze data on broiler performance, including growth rates, feed efficiency, mortality rates, and health status. Use data analysis to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for enhancing productivity.

Product and Industry Knowledge:

Stay up to date with the latest developments in broiler production, including new technologies, feed products, and industry trends. Provide feedback to the company on customer needs, product performance, and market trends.

Customer Relations:

Build and maintain strong relationships with growers Act as the primary point of contact for farmers seeking technical advice and support. Provide regular updates to farmers on best practices and new developments in broiler production.

Compliance and Reporting:

Ensure that broiler production practices comply with relevant industry standards and regulations. Prepare and submit regular reports on farm visits, broiler performance, and other relevant activities to the management team.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in animal science, Poultry Science, Veterinary Medicine, or a related field

PREFERRED

by not required At least 3-5 years of experience in broiler production or a similar role in the poultry industry. Strong understanding of broiler management practices, including nutrition, health, and biosecurity. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot production issues. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with farmers Ability to work independently and manage multiple farms or projects simultaneously. Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting. Willing to travel daily at local complex, work in inclement weather and rural areas. Travel outside of complex up to 6 times per year.
