Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Food Safety/Quality Assurance Lead supports the Quality Supervisor in executing daily operations. This role is responsible for implementing inspection procedures, participating in internal and external corrective actions, and may act as a stand-in for the Quality Supervisor during their absence.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct hourly quality control checks on production processes Operate and monitor QC equipment, recording results in the system Report quality issues and corrective actions to the Quality Supervisor Receive samples and coordinate testing against established specifications Perform routine environmental monitoring, including swabbing and water collection Develop and update product and process standards within the QC department Accurately document testing data in the QC release system Collaborate with Production Supervisor to verify product specifications in the system Inspect pest control devices and report any findings Conduct QC testing and report results in a timely manner Support the Quality Supervisor during customer and third-party audits Perform self-audits in processing and warehousing areas Work in partnership with the corporate QA team on issue resolution and reporting Assist in managing the facility’s Quality Management System (QMS) Collaborate with plant leadership to uphold and improve the QMS Contribute to food safety and quality decision-making for raw materials, in-process, and finished products as assigned Manage the sample retention and evaluation program Support internal auditing activities to ensure audit readiness Serve as an active member of the facility’s Food Safety Team Assist in the development of hazard analyses and HACCP/Preventive Control plans Ensure compliance with HACCP and regulatory requirements Conduct QC-related training for plant personnel
Qualifications & Requirements:
Demonstrates integrity, accuracy, and strong attention to detail Minimum 4 years’ experience in a QC role within a food processing environment Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. on a regular basis Strong organizational and independent task management skills Effective communicator with the ability to advise other departments on QA/QC concerns Working knowledge of HACCP principles; certification preferred Leadership capabilities in HACCP meetings and food safety planning
Position Hours:
Must be able to work shifts between 4am and 6pm.
