Agronomy Technician Western New York Crop Management Association Coop. Inc. Livingston County, NY About us: Western New York Crop Management Association Coop. Prerequisites:
outgoing enjoy being outdoors attention to detail physically able to work long hours during busy times valid driver’s license with minimal infractions passion for agriculture high school diploma
Experience:
A degree in agronomy or related field is preferred but not required. Training will be provided to the candidate hired.
Duties:
Cropland Field Work:
Duties include scouting, crop monitoring and staging, soil and crop sampling, pH grid testing, and research trial work. Follow-up reports are submitted to the farmer and crop consultant electronically.
Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plan Field Work:
Technicians perform a technical role by measuring slope gradients and lengths, looking for hydrological sensitive areas and concentrated flows, taking measurements from intermittent or perennial streams, and marking row gradients and watershed breaks.
Office Work:
Office work consists of data entry, soil processing, creating and updating maps using GIS software, preparing for research trials, and helping to maintain the office.
Location:
The crop technician will work out the Warsaw office, but will perform field duties on client farms. Field work will primarily be performed in Livingston and Ontario counties.
