Role:
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented QA Technician to join our team at a leading food manufacturing facility in Palmyra, PA . This role plays a vital part in ensuring that ingredients and finished products meet all quality and safety specifications, in accordance with
SQF, USDA
Meat and Poultry, FDA Seafood , and
FDA HARPC
standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the loading of trucks as needed. Receive and inspect incoming ingredients and packaging materials. Perform freezer checks hourly to maintain proper storage conditions. Monitor cooking processes for potatoes and pasta. Conduct pre-operational inspections after shift changes. Complete plant temperature checks every 4 hours. Conduct metal detector checks every 2 hours and verify code dates, packaging integrity, and labeling on boxing lines. Perform sanitizer concentration level checks . Conduct monthly facility inspections for compliance and cleanliness. Monitor for expired ingredients and remove as necessary. Taste and evaluate batch samples to ensure flavor consistency. Maintain the sample retention library for both frozen and refrigerated items. Perform finished product weight checks for packaging accuracy. Conduct ATP swabbing to verify cleanliness. Ensure proper warehouse storage practices , including allergen control and secure closures. Conduct regular GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) monitoring . Troubleshoot production issues as they arise. Calibrate thermometers and scales regularly. Track ingredient thawing schedules and “use by” dates. Follow up on sanitation and maintenance work orders by inspecting affected areas or equipment. Review and assist with daily production and QA paperwork . Maintain accurate temperature logs (including Wi-Fi graphs and chart printouts). Participate in quarterly glass/brittle plastic audits . Supervise the transfer of products between facilities when necessary. Assist in mock recall exercises . Verify labels on all packaging lines to ensure compliance. Adhere to all company and safety policies and procedures at all times.
Qualifications and Skills:
Strong working knowledge of
FDA, USDA GMPP, SOP, HACCP
, sanitation protocols, chemical safety , pest control , and food allergens . Effective verbal and written communication skills . Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Capable of handling multiple tasks and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment. Must be reliable , punctual, and flexible— some overtime required for shift coverage, production changes, and annual audits.
