Job Description
Food Safety Technician 2nd Shift 3.2 3.2 out of 5 stars 2040 American Italian Way, Columbia, SC 29209 The Food Safety Technician will inspect and follow-up on Food Safety/GMP expectations and requirements in High and Low care areas throughout the facility. A RedZone list has been developed and will be used to guide the Technician for daily, weekly, and other scheduled inspection points of interest. The Food Safety Technician will also Follow-up to include immediate corrective action for high priority issues, proper reporting of general findings and follow-up on CAPA details with appropriate team or key department contacts.
Job Responsibilities:
Conduct facility inspections to identify individuals or groups not following our Food Safety/GMP requirements. Correct identified Food Safety Hazards immediately or document and notify relevant personnel of issues for later correction Audit employees for compliance purposes to ensure that GMP policies are followed Work with employees to ensure understanding of policies and correct noncompliance issues Listen to employee concerns or questions on regulatory compliance related to Food Safety. Follow up on these concerns with management. Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels in the organization written and verbal Proficiency or the ability to learn and use Microsoft office, Red Zone, and other programs used by the company Ability to work in a cold and wet environment Able to work independently and as a member of a team Follow the company’s Safety program, GMP program, proper usage of PPE, and proper/safe inspection of chemicals Able to lift 50 pounds, climbing, bending, reaching into hard to get to areas of a processing facility. Ability to climb ladders and stairs to complete inspection duties covering Food Safety/GMPs Ability to stand and walk most of the workday
