GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Visual Impact Associate assists in carrying out the merchandising vision for the stores to ensure product is properly assembled and placed to attract customer attention.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operates forklifts, mechanical lift gates, and mechanical platforms to facilitate loading and unloading of materials, as appropriate to the area of operation. Assembles furniture upon delivery. Loads and unloads product from trucks and ensuring appropriate padding and ropers are used to prevent damage. Locates and relocates all showroom and non-showroom furniture as needed. Operates a large moving truck in the transportation of moving materials, as necessary. Performs snow removal, as appropriate to the area of operation. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. May perform general maintenance, custodial, and trash removal tasks. Follows all safety procedures. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions and procedures. This position frequently communicates with sales and management teams and must be able to accurately exchange information in these situations. Ability to safely operate a large moving truck, as appropriate to the position. Knowledge of basic forklift operations preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Constantly moves furniture and other items weighing 50 pounds or more. Must be able to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds without assistance and above 51 pounds with or without assistance. Occasionally ascends and descends ladders for lighting maintenance and installation. Must be able to move and arrange furniture and other items 75% of the time. Also must be able to move about the sales floor and store rooms 75% of time. Work environment involves minimal exposure to environmental hazards and waste with assistance with trash removal and custodial duties. Work involves frequent exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and unpleasant odors.
