As we continue to grow, we are looking for a motivated and experienced Survey Instrument Operator to join our field surveying team. Position Summary The Survey Instrument Operator works under the direction of the Survey Crew Chief and is responsible for operating and maintaining survey instruments and equipment in the field. This individual plays a key role in gathering accurate field data to support engineering and land development projects. Responsibilities Set up, operate, and maintain survey instruments including total stations, GPS receivers, data collectors, and levels. Assist the Survey Crew Chief in collecting topographic, boundary, ALTA/NSPS, and construction layout data. Record and organize field notes and digital data for transfer to office staff. Follow instructions, understand survey plans, and interpret maps and construction drawings. Ensure field work is conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications. Transport and load survey equipment, and ensure it is kept in good working condition. Work in various weather conditions and physical terrains, often standing or walking for long periods. Requirements High school diploma or GED required; technical coursework or degree in geomatics, surveying, or civil engineering is a plus. 1-2 years of surveying experience preferred; training available for the right candidate. Familiarity with Trimble, Leica, or Topcon instruments is a plus. Ability to read and understand survey notes and construction documents. Strong math and problem-solving skills. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Willingness to travel to job sites and work overtime or weekends as needed.
