Job Summary:

The Plasma Operator isresponsible for the setup, operation and tending of the (CNC) PlasmaTable and supporting equipment. He/she produces parts created using theplasma table while maintaining quality and safety standards.

ESSENTIALJOB FUNCTIONS

• Receive processing direction and nesting table fromEngineering and Supervisor
• Set up and operate plasma table to cutparts used in the creation of vehicles
• Identify and verify propergauge and type of steel to be cut
• Load table by lifting steel intoposition using crane and various other lifting devices
• Maintainspecifications by observing plasma table cutting, detectingmalfunctions, troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogrammingcontrols
• Replace worn consumables adhering to quality assuranceprocedures and processes
• Examine cuts visually or by hand to verifyquality and accuracy
• Grind edges of material using a pneumaticgrinder
• Monitor instruments such as pressure gauges, indicators ormeters to ensure optimum processing conditions
• Maintain continuity bycommunicating and documenting actions, irregularities and ongoing need
• Maintain all documentation including time sheets, and nest reports
• Maintain equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirementsfollowing manufacturer’s instructions, trouble shoot malfunctions andinform supervisor of problems and malfunctions that occur
• Removedebris from machine by running slagger
• Maintain a clean and tidy workarea
• Identify abnormalities and repairs required as result of internalactions and advise the supervisor accordingly
• Identify areas ofprocess improvement, cost and waste reduction
• Work in an efficient andtimely manner
• Undertake relevant training and development asrequired
• Carry out work orders within a realistic time line ensuringthat deadlines are met
• Maintain cooperative working relationships, anddemonstrate sensitivity to and respect for a diverse population
• Recordall hours worked accurately

EXPERIENCE

• Manufacturing experience
• Forkliftexperience

EDUCATION

High school diploma or GED equivalent

CERTIFICATIONS

• Forklift operation certification
• Valid driver’slicense
