This role combines hands-on operation of zinc die cast machinery with technical engineering responsibilities, offering a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge automation, robotics, and vision systems. The ideal candidate will bring a strong mechanical and technical background, with experience in zinc die casting, injection molding, or other related manufacturing technologies. This position supports both production and process optimization, requiring the ability to multitask, think critically, and maintain high standards of quality and safety. Key Responsibilities Operate and troubleshoot a variety of zinc die cast machines, robots, vision systems, and touch screen control panels. Design, modify, and optimize die casting molds using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred). Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure efficient and high-quality output. Set up machines and run sample parts for quality assurance prior to production runs. Conduct detailed inspections using calipers, micrometers, thread gages, and pin gages to ensure parts meet precise tolerances (up to .0005″). Follow control plans and mechanical blueprints for production and quality checks. Maintain accurate documentation in the business system related to tooling, set-up, repairs, and production data. Clean, maintain, and perform routine machine maintenance as needed. Identify and report any potential safety hazards or violations in the workplace. Cross-train within the department to develop additional skills and support other operations as needed. Qualifications & Preferred Experience High School Diploma or GED required. 3-5+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting is required. Experience in zinc die casting, injection mold processes (zinc or plastic), CNC, stamping, or other related machine operations highly preferred. Advanced mechanical aptitude; experience with hand tools, basic machine maintenance, or auto tech skills a plus. Familiarity with touch screen machine controls, advanced automation, robotics, and vision systems. Ability to read mechanical blueprints and interpret control plans for production and quality control. Strong use of precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, pin/thread gages). Proficient in basic math and capable of applying it in engineering and production scenarios. Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks preferred. Excellent multitasking, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills. Strong team player with a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
