JOB DESCRIPTION
Clean Harbors – Decatur, AL is looking for a Hazardous Materials Technician to join their safety conscious team. This person would be responsible for the performance of tasks associated with collecting, segregating, packing, and preparing for shipment of hazardous waste in accordance with our company policies and procedures In this position, you will be responsible for the proper classification, identification, packaging, and labeling of hazardous waste, ensuring compliance with all environmental regulations and internal procedures You will also be tasked with processing regulatory paperwork, unpacking hazardous materials onsite and at customer sites when necessary, and sampling the contents of containers Why work for Clean Harbors? RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
Prepares computer-generated packing lists, labels, manifests, and land disposal restrictions notifications;
Performs inspections of staging, accumulating and storage areas to ensure proper housekeeping procedures and compliance;
Inspects storage area for leaks or spills;
Inspects drums for compliance with labeling regulations;
Collects, segregates, and properly packages waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance;
Samples and profiles of new waste streams or any wastes needing analytical testing;
Physically demanding position; Must be able to lift 50 pounds;
Prepare all necessary tracking paperwork.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or Equivalent required;
Hazardous waste experience preferred;
Valid Driver’s License and clean Motor Vehicle Record.
