Full Job Description Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Hazardous Waste Disposal Technician to join our environmental services team. This role is responsible for the proper identification, collection, transportation, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of hazardous waste protocols, safety procedures, and environmental compliance standards. ________________________________________
Key Responsibilities:
Collect, segregate, label, and store hazardous and non-hazardous waste in accordance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state regulations. Safely operate equipment such as forklifts, drum dollies, and vacuums for handling hazardous materials. Complete and maintain accurate records including waste manifests, logs, and inspection reports. Inspect and maintain waste storage areas to ensure cleanliness, safety, and regulatory compliance. Assist in spill response and emergency cleanup operations. Conduct routine audits and inspections of waste accumulation points. Maintain knowledge of current hazardous waste management regulations and best practices. Provide support during environmental inspections or audits from regulatory agencies. ________________________________________
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree or certification in environmental science or related field preferred). Prior experience handling hazardous waste or working in environmental services is strongly preferred. Knowledge of RCRA, DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulations.
HAZWOPER
certification (24 or 40-hour) preferred or willingness to obtain. Ability to wear protective gear including respirators and hazmat suits. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. ________________________________________
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding environments. Comfortable working in varying temperatures, confined spaces, heights of up to 40 feet, and potentially high-stress situations. ________________________________________
Working Conditions:
Exposure to hazardous substances, loud environments, and outdoor weather conditions. Rotating shifts, on-call duties, and possible overtime depending on operational needs.
