Full-time, Temp-to-Hire We’re seeking a seasoned Asbestos Abatement Supervisor to lead field crews on industrial, commercial, and residential remediation projects across North Carolina and South Carolina. The ideal candidate holds current NC Asbestos Supervisor (ASB-SUPV) and SC Asbestos Supervisor licenses , excels at
OSHA/EPA
compliance, and can mobilize quickly for high-priority projects involving hazardous materials removal, demolition, and site decontamination . Key Responsibilities Direct daily asbestos abatement, encapsulation, and removal activities, ensuring strict adherence to AHERA, NESHAP, and state DHEC regulations. Conduct pre-job hazard assessments, develop abatement work plans, containment schematics, and negative-pressure calculations . Supervise 2-15 technicians, assigning tasks, monitoring PPE usage, HEPA filtration, glove-bag, and Class I-IV removal methods . Interface with GC/CMs, building owners, and third-party air monitors; maintain daily logs, chain-of-custody forms, and waste manifests . Perform air clearance visual inspections, final cleaning, and certify completion of remediation projects.
Enforce site safety:
lead Toolbox Talks, Lockout/Tagout, confined-space entry, lead & silica hazard programs , and incident investigations. Coordinate equipment, decontamination units, negative air machines, and waste disposal logistics to meet aggressive project timelines. Must-Have Qualifications Active Asbestos Supervisor licenses in both NC and SC (copies required at offer stage). 3+ years’ experience leading hazmat / asbestos abatement crews on multi-site projects. Deep working knowledge of
OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1101, EPA 40 CFR 61
Subpart M, respiratory protection, and hazardous waste regulations . Valid driver’s license; willingness to travel regionally and work overtime/night shifts as needed. Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, pre-employment drug screen, and annual medical surveillance / fit test . Preferred Assets Lead, mold, and PCB/HazMat remediation certifications (NC
LRC, SC SCDHEC
Lead Supervisor, Mold Assessor). Competent Person training in scaffolding, fall protection, silica, forklift, and aerial lift operation . Proficiency with project management software, tablets for electronic daily reports (e.g., SiteDocs, HeavyJob) . Spanish/English bilingual. Physical Demands & Work Environment Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs, work in full-face respirator and Tyvek , climbing ladders, and extended periods in confined or elevated areas. Field work occurs in active demolition zones, mechanical rooms, roof decks, and crawl spaces under variable temperatures.
