JOB DESCRIPTION JOB GOAL
To provide skilled work in opening, closures, locks, keys, and related types of hardware.
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited high school or trade school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Minimum four (4) years’ experience as a locksmith. Some experience in the carpentry trade is helpful. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the standards and codes, methods, tools, and materials associated with the locksmith trade. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade. Skilled in the use and care of standard tools and equipment used in the locksmith trade. Ability to learn and update methods used in the trade. Ability to utilize computer software designed for the locksmith trade. Ability to work with limited supervision. Ability to keep accurate records. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to work under various conditions to complete necessary jobs. Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. Ability to be bonded, if necessary.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Repair door closures and various types of locks found in the school systems. Re-key and compile bitting lists. Evaluate closures and locks for repair or replacement. Provide cost assessments for materials Make repair or replacement determination. Evaluate new locking materials and equipment. Clean and maintain equipment and work space. Follow assigned duties, both oral and written. Maintain accurate records of daily work and time and payroll information. Follow safety standards in performing work and report unsafe conditions to Lead/Manager in a timely manner. May be required to work after hours and/or weekends. Travel outside of Manatee County as required in the performance of duties. Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job the employee works both inside and outside. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. Requires lifting, holding, carrying, sitting, standing, walking, climbing, bending, stooping, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual acuity. The noise level in the work environment can be high at times. The employee frequently will work irregular or extended work hours while performing the duties of this job. Safety is the highest priority.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
