Non-Exempt Job Description:
This role performs repairs and maintenance of sidewalks, curbing and streets.
Examples of Duties:
Performs repairs on sidewalks, crosswalks, and streets. Operates specialized equipment and tools related to the trade discipline. Instructs other crew members in proper operational procedures and techniques. Supervises the crew Specific duties depend on the trade discipline, and may include removing, pouring and finishing cement sidewalks and curbing; laying brick, cinder block, bluestone, Belgium Block, and other special construction material; cutting, removing, and replacing asphalt; cutting, repairing, and laying concrete Drives a pickup truck to deliver tools, materials, equipment, etc. Assists in measuring the worksite and deciding the quantities, materials, and equipment needed. Requisitions or purchases necessary supplies and equipment. Works extended hours during shutdowns, emergency repairs, or disasters. Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) and 4 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid state issued driver’s license. Ability to use smart phone, tablet, and/ or computer for work order management.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Master Tradesman in specific trade discipline.
Other Necessary Requirements:
May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City’s needs.
