Summary:
Installs, modifies, moves, troubleshoots, repairs and dismantles machinery and equipment according to requisition documentation, layout plans, blueprints or other drawings | Prepares installation site by constructing foundations and aligns and fastens machinery to the foundation using hoists, dollies, rollers, trucks, tools, squares, rules and micrometers | Performs operational tests on newly installed, modified, repaired and moved machinery and equipment to ensure that it meets technical specifications | Fabricates metal parts for prototype equipment based on drawings | Programs PLCs (programmable logic controllers).
Major Position Responsibilities
Essential Duties:
Assists with the installation, operation, testing, and adjustment of various types of conventional or automatic machines used to produce precision parts and instruments.
Fabricates and modifies parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. Machines parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
Measures, examines, and tests completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications. Basic Qualifications

Attending a Vocational/Technical School or internal training program
Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience or Skillset
