The company manufactures complex small, machined components in the Aerospace and Power Systems industries and has been in business for over fifty years. The right candidate will supervise 5 to 6 employees in our second building. They must possess superior communication, remote collaboration, creative thinking, and time management skills—these are essential for success. This role requires a strong understanding of machining procedures, metal properties, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. It is essential for the Swiss Lathe Supervisor to stay updated on machining technology and continuously improve their skills and knowledge. The position involves operating and setting up Swiss-style CNC Machines to produce precision parts for various industries, including aerospace, power generation, and other metal parts sectors.

Responsibilities include:

Operate and set up Swiss CNC Machines to produce precision parts for various industries, including aerospace and power generation. Program and set up Swiss Lathes for machining operations using PartMaker or Mastercam. Oversee machine production and ensure quality control. Solve problems and make decisions to improve efficiency and cycle times. Perform machining operations and check the accuracy of finished pieces. Maintain machines and assist in repairs and maintenance. Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Read and interpret complex technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accurate machining processes. Select appropriate tools, inserts, and machine parameters to optimize machining efficiency and part quality. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on Swiss machines to ensure optimal performance. Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to refine machining processes and improve product quality. Conduct in-process inspections and quality checks to ensure parts meet specified tolerances and standards. Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment. RequirementsEducation High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical certification or associate degree in machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field preferred. Required Skills and Experience 3+ years of supervisory experience. 5+ years of experience as a Swiss Machinist in a precision fabrication environment. Proficient in operating and setting up Swiss-style CNC lathes and machines (Star Swiss is a plus). Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and fixture design. Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and specifications. Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications Experience with programming CNC machines. Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and practices. Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
