Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES
Set-up, maintain and operate machine shop equipment, machine tools, including our jig boring machine, manual mill, lathe and surface grinder. Produce quality components to Engineering drawings and sketches. Work to acceptable production and quality standards. Adhere to Health & Safety policies, quality procedures and job specific work instructions. Follow written and verbal instructions from Lead Hand and Management.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Grade 12 or equivalent Knowledge of standard Machine Shop practices. Able to read mechanical blueprints and use standard measuring tools (i.e. vernier or dial calipers, micrometer, height gauge and bore gauges).
Experience:
3 years Machine shop experience. Haas CNC machine as asset
Specific Skill Ability and Knowledge:
Capable of safely operating all Machine Shop tools and equipment including cranes and tow motor. Able to complete process checks & inspection for quality and accuracy based upon engineering specifications. Able to effectively communicate to Lead Hands and Supervisors on problems relating to production, scrap, tooling, and equipment. Capable of setting up, identifying, and replacing cutting tools. Capable of troubleshooting process and tooling problems including communication of root cause findings. Assist with tool studies, process development and product or process improvements.
