Job Description
Precision machining position focused on setup and operation of manual lathes, mills, and related shop equipment for tight-tolerance parts. Job Requirements Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and work instructions Proficiency setting up and operating manual lathes, mills, drills, grinders, and hand tools Competence using precision measuring instruments (vernier calipers, micrometers, height gages, dial indicators, go/no-go and thread gages) Working knowledge of machine-shop math and standard shop equipment Strict adherence to safety policies and reporting procedures Willingness to work extended day or night shifts during spring and fall peak seasons Commitment to daily workspace cleanup Preferred Skills Experience determining tooling requirements and optimal machining methods Familiarity with process documentation for first-piece approval and in-process inspections Background maintaining manual machine tools and performing minor preventative maintenance Job Responsibilities Set up manual machines based on print specifications and process sheets Select tooling, establish feeds and speeds, and verify first-article conformance Machine components within specified tolerances, monitoring dimensions throughout production Inspect finished parts with precision gauges and record results for quality traceability Maintain organized, debris-free work area and ensure proper tool storage Document non-conformances and collaborate with quality or engineering teams on corrective actions Support continuous improvement initiatives related to machining efficiency and accuracy
