Job Overview:
The Machinist will serve as a member of the US Fire Pump and US Fire Apparatus production teams. This role is pivotal by machining small parts required during the manufacturing of heavy-duty firefighting and emergency response equipment. They will have access to a full machine shop, and must be proficient with manual lathe and manual milling equipment and techniques. They must be dependable, able to operate independently in a mostly autonomous capacity across the manufacturing facility, have good attention to detail, and work well as a member of a team.
Job Responsibilities:
Operates and maintains manual lathe and manual milling machines Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints, or samples to ensure accurate production Takes precise measurements for cutting or shaping Selects appropriate machine and settings for a given task Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment Monitors production, adjusting feed and other settings as necessary Maintains inventory of completed products Checks output for quality assurance and documents or discards defects Identifies need for and performs maintenance and repairs to all machinery Maintains a clean and safe workstation
Position Requirements:
Experience working with machine tools and mechanical assembly Excellent coordination and mechanical skills Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety Solid written and verbal communication skills Proficient in math Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks
Preferred Experience:
Apprenticeship or vocational training preferred
