Qualifications Ruland Manufacturing is looking for a CNC SetupMachinist to join a diverse manufacturing team that operates Haas,Brother, and RoboDrill CNC mills and lathes in a fast-pacedproduction environment where programs are prewritten byengineering. The ideal team member must be willing to setup and/oroperate three to six machines at a time while performing routineinspections, helping operators make in-depth mechanicaladjustments, and identifying visual product defects. The CNC SetupMachinist must be comfortable working in a collaborativeenvironment where results are measured, and performance isrewarded. Due to Ruland’s fast growth the CNC Setup Machinist mustbe comfortable adapting to changes in technology, processes, andequipment. This person will train operators on new equipment andhelp them advance to setting up machines. The primaryresponsibilities of the Machine Operator are operating equipmentthat has already been setup, performing routine inspections,operating manual lathes for secondary operations, making processrecommendations and regularly reporting any issues with quality orsafety, to the production supervisor. Success of the MachineOperator will be measured by productivity, scrap rate, average leadtime, late orders, and compliance with process and safetystandards. Team results are measured on a daily basis allowing fora transparent view of performance. Ruland expects the CNC SetupMachinist to perform routine inspections to maintain our industryexceeding quality standards. Inspections are performed untilconsistency of the part setup has been established, when anoperator has a quality issue they can not fix, and on a routinebasis depending on workload. Ruland uses standard monitoring andmeasuring equipment as well as visual aids to ensure compliancewith documented standards. Setup machinists must possess good mathskills and the ability to program and mechanical adjustments tomaintain quality. Ruland is a high mix, small to medium run-sizeproduction environment with schedules that can change dailydepending on customer orders and need. The CNC Setup Machinist mustbe flexible and willing to adapt to these changing schedulesincluding giving input on if parts can be run that day. Strongorganizational skills are required which include keeping a tidywork area, understanding of what parts are running on each machine,having blanks prepped to be run, and attention to detail withinspection sheets. To keep up with the demanding schedule the CNCSetup Machinist must be quick and efficient with changeovers, groupsetups, and prepare fixturing and tooling in advance of setup.

- Ability to read and interpret blue-prints and dimensional charts
- Ability to read, speak and write English at a proficient workinglevel, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division offractions and decimals to support QC checks and productionreporting.
- Basic computer skills on a Windows operating system.
Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent applicablework experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Setup experiencewith Haas mill and lathes and Brother or RoboDrill mills.
- Experience with Haas and/or Fanuc controls.
- Prior experience withan ERP such as Exact Macola.
- Work experience in an SMB.
Preferred:
- Prior experience in a high production environment.
- Experience manufacturing small components.
- Experience enteringinventory transactions.
- Experience training operators on newequipment or how to setup.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
Desired:
- Any setup experience of manual or CNC mills/lathes.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
