Prototype CNC Mill Machinist Located in beautiful Kittery, Maine, PTE Precision Machining is looking for a talented prototype machinist to join our growing team. PTE serves a variety of industries, including defense, commercial, firearms, telecommunications, marine, energy, and more. We serve a handful of high-level customers looking for quick turnarounds on new products. The Prototype CNC Mill Machinist will answer the call by making use of CNC mills, as well as manual equipment, gaging, 3D printing, and any other resources as necessary. The selected candidate will be an on-the-spot problem solver, eager to learn and hone their skills. They will look at challenges as opportunities to learn something new. We have technical requirements, but the most crucial part to any successful candidate will be the attitude & character of the individual. We want to see that you mesh well with our current team of machinists and are willing to both listen & contribute to manufacturing conversations to help everyone grow. Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure prototypes are made to the expected specifications from our customers in a timely manner.
  • Solve complex manufacturing problems on components from a variety of different industries.
  • Provide feedback on prototype drawings to build proactive plans for manufacturing.
  • Predict and outline tooling requirements based on part geometry and communicate requirements with purchasing.
  • Develop fixtures as needed.
  • Basic understanding of material properties, heat treatments, and advantages/disadvantages associated with each.
  • Read & create programs for CNC mills (Fanuc & Siemens controllers).
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC mills.
  • Be ready to adapt to new challenges.
  • Mechanical aptitude a must.
  • Good visual acuity. Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of training or experience with CNC equipment. Knowledge & Skillsets
  • Working knowledge of a variety of materials, from aluminum, steel, stainless and nickel alloys.
  • CNC set up and operation (Fanuc/Siemens Controllers).
  • CNC Programming
  • Mathematically inclined; able to perform basic trig functions quickly.
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively. Other Requirements
  • Able to lift 50-70lbs semi-frequently. We are looking for local candidates
