Job Description:
Duties & Responsibilities
Effectively team with the Supervisor, Crew Lead, and Quality assigned to the project to efficiently execute the work scope as laid out by the immediate supervisor and crew lead.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members, fostering their development and ensuring adherence to quality standards.
Ability to work independently while performing tasks and assignments and report status to the crew lead and supervisor.
Charge labor hours to assigned tasks.
Adhere to a Quality Management System in a highly regulated industry.
Continuous Improvement mindset.
Self-monitor all work performed, scrutinize details to ensure articles are ready for inspection, correctly document work performed, and maintain quality standards.
Demonstrate highly organizational skills and respect attention to detail.
Communicate well in advanced/complex situations.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Perform tasks as assigned and accept on-the-job training as requested.
Work within a schedule-driven environment, often with conflicting priorities, while maintaining VVIP quality standards.
Promote and adhere to the TEAM environment mentality, always considering upstream and downstream shops and departments.
Undergo training as needed to comply with FAA and other regulatory requirements.
Support ICONs mission, vision, and values through the achievement of department goals and objectives, contribute to process improvement, and develop strategies that improve customer service and business operations.
Possess excellent mechanical aptitude and a desire to initiate improvements within defined boundaries.
Regularly scheduled attendance is required.
Be able to work various shifts and overtime as needed.
Be available for occasional overnight and short-notice travel.
Perform tasks as assigned and accept on-the-job training as requested.
Competencies
Inspect completed units to ensure quality standards are met.
Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.).
Control and adjust machine settings. (e.g. speed)
Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines.
Test operation of machines periodically.
Inspect parts utilizing hand tools and measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, edge finders, gauge blocks, feeler gauges, thread gauges, dial test indicator, etc. for quality control.
Interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Program and pull data from software such as:
a. SolidWorks
b. Master Cam
c. Catia
Advanced experience in programming:
a. G-Code
Work with and/or understand a vast range of materials such as:
a. Metals, Composites, Woods, Laminates, Carbon Fibers, Fiberglass, Fabrics, Leathers, Glues & Adhesives, Foams, and others.
Modify or repair damaged components as needed.
Be a detail-oriented individual with a passion for machining and custom aircraft craftsmanship.
Create a product from an idea only, without detailed instructions.
Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects. safety guidelines and maintain a safe working environment.
Maintain quality, adhere to schedules, and offer feedback to both upstream and downstream departments.
Requirements
High school education.
5-10+ years of CNC Machinist experience related to refurbishment and production; minimal aviation-specific or equivalent experience is preferred.
Basic computing skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Requirements
Routinely lifts to 60 pounds, occasionally lifts up to 100+ pounds.
Stands for periods of time, with frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, and stooping.
Uses hands to reach and feel, with repetitive motion.
Good finger dexterity.
Reads, writes, speaks, and understands English fluently.
Works in confined spaces, extreme temperatures, heights above six feet, noisy environments, and flight.
Works with and around products and materials associated with aircraft maintenance.
Ability to wear required PPE.
