Setter/Operator I, 2nd Shift
New Bern, NC / Full-time
Your responsibilities
Operate a variety of machines and processes and assist foreman in the set up to produce parts that conform to specifications with minimal variation. Assist in the maintenance of these machines. The machines include forming presses for sheet metal, bending machines for sheet metal, expansion machine for sheet metal and welding machines. Processes include washing and passivation of metal parts and bonding of insulating materials to metal parts via infrared heating. Trouble shoots processes and makes necessary adjustments or changes.
- Tracks process using statistical methods and make necessary adjustments or changes.
- Understand and follow “Operator Instructions”, necessary for safe operation of machines.
- Follow “training” instructions of the foreman.
- Observe machine operations and adjust machine for proper operation.
- Load and position tools into presses and perform change-over
- Assist in the adjustment machine stops, strokes pressures, speeds, etc. to achieve minimum part variation of conforming parts at acceptable cycle times.
- Perform preventative maintenance as required by “Preventative Maintenance Schedule”.
- Inspect sheet metal parts and work pieces during set-up for conformance to technical specifications and make necessary adjustments to requirements.
- Adjust welder settings as instructed to achieve conforming parts with minimum variation.
- Adjust washing, passivation and bonding processes to achieve conforming parts with minimum variation
- Assist in machine repairs as requested.
- Participate in problem solving process.
- Participate in “Continuous Improvement Process”.
- Store and clean tools properly.
- Keeps work area clean and orderly.
Your profile - High-School Diploma – Required
- 0-2 Years of Experience (Technical Manufacturing Environment) – Required
- Good understanding of plant and environmental safety.
- Good understanding of statistical methods of monitoring processes and product quality.
- Good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic components.
- Good understanding of trouble shooting industrial equipment.
- The Labor Grade within this Job Classification is dependent on experience, knowledge, responsibility, performance, dependability and job complexity.
- Technical knowledge of resistance welding, sheet metal working and industrial controls.
- Excellent knowledge of safety practices and procedures around manufacturing equipment.
- Strong mechanical or electrical aptitude.
Your Pay & Benefits
The pay range posted for this position is based on the location noted in the posting title. Exact compensation offered may vary based on your specific skillset and work location. If the position is bonus or incentive eligible then the payments range from 0% to 200% of target with details laid out within the plan document.
