SUMMARY:
Sets up computerized numerically controlledmachine tools and related equipment for machining operations.
Participates in problem solving activities and contributes toquality improvements. Operates machines when required. Takesinitiative to stimulate team-based quality and productivityimprovement activities, supporting the basis for continuousimprovement. Actively promotes teamwork atmosphere and supportsteam development.
DESCRIPTON
Works from drawings, blueprints, joblayouts, or other written specifications, determines feeds, speeds,tooling and operational sequences. Set up and inspect first articlepart on any proven program and turn it in for Quality Assuranceverification at an 80% approval rate. Change cutting tools andlocation of work pieces during machining process. Installs cuttingtools and various work holding devices to handle the size of stockto be machined. Operates and adjusts machines until parts producedconform with specifications and time standards. Makes necessaryadjustments to set-ups during course of operations to maintainaccurate production. Responsible for completeness of secondary setups. Detects and reports improper operation, faulty equipment, andunusual conditions. Detects and reports significant variances injob standards. Upon completion of “First Article of Verification”trains and monitors work of operator assigned to that machine. Runmultiple CNC machines. Performs secondary operations as defined bytraveler, using various machines/tools such as files, drill pressesand sanders. Assists operators on which dimensions to inspect,(proper tools and gauges). Ensures quality of parts beforeforwarding them to next operation/process. Responsible forcleanliness of his/her own work area and the general housekeepingof the Company. Reports any unsafe conditions toSupervisor/Management/Maintenance. Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 5 years CNC setup experience. Minimum 3 yearsexperience in a manufacturing environment. Mandatory 4th axismachining experience. Prototyping and first piece development withprograms experience a plus. Capable of running and setting up allCNC machines in the department. Understands and can modify basicCNC programs. Ability to make basic fixtures and jigs. Ability touse micrometers, calipers, height gauges and dial indicators.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints a must.
EXPERIENCE
HighSchool Diploma, or General Education Degree (GED). Strong knowledgein all aspects of producing top quality precision aluminumcomponents. Ability to work with internal drawings, travelers, setup sheets, proper fixturing, offset and tool setting, and prove-outof programs. Perform basic edits to programs on Fanuc controls.
Demonstrated ability to solve highly technical problems.
