The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the Metallic Lathers and Reinforcing Ironworkers, Local Union #46, will conduct a recruitment from July 14, 2025 through July 25, 2025 for 50 Lather (Wood, Wire, and Metal) apprentices. Please note that the 50 openings listed for apprentices represent the total number for three recruitment regions: the Hudson Valley, Long Island, and New York City regions. Applications will only be available in person, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday, during the recruitment period at 61-02, 32nd Ave, Woodside

Applications must be returned to Metallic Lathers and Reinforcing Ironworkers, Local Union #46 Learning Center and received by no later than August 11, 2025. A valid photo ID is required in order to obtain an application and for the physical fitness test.
The Committee requires that applicants:
Must be at least 18 years old. Must have a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma (such as TASC or GED). Must be physically able to perform the work, as determined by a physical fitness test administered by Local Union #46 which includes carrying and moving reinforcing rods and performing push-ups and pull ups. Must be physically able to perform the work of the trade, as determined by applicants verbal statement, which may include: Wearing a safety belt weighing 25-50 pounds for a full day. Carrying steel rods weighing between 50 and 150 pounds for a full day. Climbing for erection, bridges, and wall-reinforcing jobs, etc. Walking, climbing, bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying for a full day. Must pass a drug screening, at the expense of the sponsor, after selection and prior to enrollment in apprenticeship. Must provide military transfer card or discharge form DD-214, if applicable, after selection and prior to enrollment in apprenticeship.
