POSITION SUMMARY

Sets up and operates and programs the following, (conventional, special purpose, NC machines, CNC machining centers, CNC grinders, CNC lathe, Tykem laser, and wire EDM) working to close tolerance to fabricate, overhaul, rebuild or repair replacement parts, fixtures or devices. Dismantle and rebuild machines or equipment to proper working order.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Procedures:

Works to close tolerance (± .00005) to fit parts for press fits, running fits and sliding fits. Able to program using mastercam, and or opticam software Reads and/or studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work-piece, sequence of operations and setup requirements. Makes or repairs parts for replacement in machines or fixtures. Verifies conformance of finished work-piece to specifications. Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly and verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly. Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, equipment and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance. Operates welding equipment to cut or weld parts. Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated. Groove all types of grinding machine wheels and make wheel strops. Assist in Blade Forming and Welding, Grinding, heat treat, and finishing as needed. Dress Grind and Final hone wheels for grinding department Grind breaker knives, breaker dies, rebuild wigglers, rebuild indexing wheels Rebuild Spindles and dressers Grind chill blocks and guides to specifications. Sharpen carbide grinder station front plates and breaker dies. Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems. Position:

High School Diploma or equivalent. Must be able to work overtime as requested Must have a minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a machinist. Must be able to correctly read and interpret instruments and gages. Demonstrated ability to work to close tolerances (+/- .0005) Demonstrated ability to use mills, lathes, surface grinders, layout and measuring equipment. Machinist, Welding, Cutting and Fabricating Knowledge Good interpersonal skills Computer skills in Excel, Outlook, Word Good Communication skills, both verbal and written.
