Tool and Die Machinist Job Description We are looking for a skilled Tool and Die Machinist to join our team. You will study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. You will also measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on materials or workpieces as guides for subsequent machining. Responsibilities Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media. Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or control media as required. Install machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and test operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance. Set up, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers. Essential Skills 2 to 3 years of experience as a Tool & Die Maker. 5 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings. Expertise in operating all machine shop equipment including CNC machines, lathes, grinders, and shapers. Must have the required hand tools to perform the job such as micrometer, caliper, etc. Additional Skills & Qualifications Strong mechanical aptitude. The plant manufactures military-grade solar flares. The work environment requires the ability to regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $59612.00
