Overview:
Works in the packaging department where the rolls are counted, boxed and stacked onto pallets. Also, may be required to perform other duties.
Responsibilities:
Sets up machines prior to shift start up if needed. Lifts filled and sealed cases from the conveyor. Stacks them onto pallets in a prescribed pattern. Inspects cases prior to stacking for good seal, possible leaks, proper labeling and coding. Obtains pallets from pallet stack, insures pallet acceptability and places slip-sheet on pallet. Keeps proper count of cases per pallet. Rotates with other packaging positions. Observes machine operation to detect malfunctions; makes minor adjustments/repairs; communicates mechanical problems to maintenance personnel. Maintains machines by loading boxes, labels, bags and tape rolls. Clears jams and faults on the machines to continue normal operation. Maintains company standards for cleanliness, food safety and productivity in the packaging area. Ensures compliance to quality, food safety and HAACP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards. Records and documents all lot code information as required.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED certificate required. Prior experience in a manufacturing environment requiring repetitive work preferred. Basic mechanical aptitude is helpful.
