Paid Vacations & Holidays Profit Sharing & Matching 401(k) Health Insurance (Medical, Vision, & Dental) Discounts on Klein Tools products Education and Professional Development Assistance ​The Leather Cutter position is responsible for operating the Atom Leather machine and Intelliview system, including machine set up, grading leather hide quality, maximizing leather hide usage, sorting of cut pieces into bins/carts for further processing, and machine maintenance/cleaning as required. ​Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following Company and OSHA safety rules and requlations, understanding machine safeguards, recognizing and reporting safety hazards, and wearing required PPE. Prepare machine and computer for operation, read and check off daily safety operation procedures before starting the machine; place hide onto the Intelliview inspection table, trim away unusable material, capture hide shape via digital camera, and inspect hide for blemishes. Blemishes are marked utilizing the mouse on the computer and the various shapes provided within the software. Hide is marked with a unique code to allow for ease of reference at the cutting machine. Place hide onto the Atom Cutting Machine surface, utilizing the proper texon background. Select the unique code associated with that hide, and load the cutting pattern into the machine’s viewer. Place the hide under the outline of the hide being shown, ensuring all parts can be cut as shown on the viewer. Place plastic upon the machine, covering the hide, to hold it in place for cutting. Trim away unneeded plastic. Inspect all cut parts for blemishes to ensure they are capable of being processed in down-stream processes; all internal cuts are to be free of leather. Maintain cutting logs and records as specified. Inform supervisor or lead of any production or quality problems. Report accurate count of production parts, scrap and labor hours by completing required paperwork and/or electronic entry. Keep work area in clean and orderly condition, complying with established 6S standards. Perform all daily cleaning/maintenance as required. Cross-train by rotating to different machines and work areas as required. Participate in various lean manufacturing activities to improve products, reduce waste, and learn new skills or operations. Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications ​High School Degree or equivalent preferred and two (2) years related work experience in a manufacturing environment required. Must possess knowledge of the different types of materials and their characteristics and flaws for quality acceptability. Demonstrate basic computer, reading, writing, comprehension, communication and calculation skills, including reading ruler and use of a calculator. Demonstrate a strong attention to detail. Ability to work closely and effectively with all employees and management staff. Physical Demand Requirements ​Required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
