- This position is responsible for assisting the Supervisor incoordination of the daily responsibilities of the department by ensuringthe Supervisor’s instructions are communicated to the team members andcarried out timely and correctly.
This position will also monitor allequipment to insure it is working properly and notify the supervisor ofany needed maintenance while maintaining a safe work environment andadhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
SummaryThe Lead assists the Burrito, Flour or Corn Production Supervisor withthe manufacturing, handling and packaging of quality products inaccordance with customer’s written specifications. Must be able tocomplete lockout/tag out training before training or operating line andassist in showing fellow team members the location for lock out/tag outfor individual pieces of equipment.
Ability to operate all equipment/machines for the assigned department.
Prepares and assists operators for production start-up or shut down ofequipment. Prepares and assists on set up/clean up of department forproduction start-up and/or shut down. Assists, trains, encourages anddirects Operators on how to adjust and operate equipment and keeplegible accurate records as required. Assists the Supervisor incompleting essential paperwork. Stops machine to make requiredadjustments following lockout-tagout policy. Maintains goodmanufacturing practices and personal hygiene. Keeps department clean andneat. Notifies Supervisor and QC of contamination. Ensure productspecifications are met in accordance with customers writtenspecifications. Must adhere to all safety policies and operate equipmentin a safe manner. Responsible for monitoring and reporting any wear andtear on equipment and notifies the Supervisor and Maintenance ofequipment malfunction, breakdown, and safety hazards. Ensures amplepackout supplies are available for line workers. Responsible for dataentry into the Plant View system. Coordinates with the Supervisor whichproducts are scheduled to be run on each line. Relieves Operators whennecessary; operating machine and mixer. Helps train new team members onjob functions. Ensures break schedule and job rotation of packers.
MAY ATTEND DAILY END OF SHIFT MEETINGS FOR THEIR SHIFT WHEN GOALS ARENOT
MET.Responsible for following company policies/procedures written or verbal.
Must be able to work competently and efficiently with minimalsupervision. Work as a team member toward task accomplishments. Performsall other tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required for the Position
- Must have 6 months of machine operator experience.
- Must be able to perform essential functions of the job with or withoutreasonable accommodation.
Requires flexibility of wrists and hands.
Walking, bending, standing and some lifting required. Lifting of up to50 lbs. on a frequent basis. Must be able to move heavy objects (up to250 lbs.) with mechanical device. Must be able to perform the MachineOperators Training Checklist and the Mixer Operators Training Checklist(for applicable line/department) job tasks by the end of the 10-workingday trial period. Must be able to perform the Lead Training Checklist(in applicable department) job tasks by the end of the 10-working daytrial period. Must be able to communicate with mechanics, qualitycontrol and supervisors on a regular basis. Responsible for taking onmultiple projects at any time with a very short deadline to meet.
Must be able to use a calculator to figure production efficiencies, crap yields, SPC specifications, proper blend ingredient weights, etc.
Must be able to read the Operator’s Logs (Machine Op. and Mixer Op.),press and mixer related SOP’s, and various Production SOP’s for theassigned department. Must be able to write production recordings in theOperator’s Logs (Machine Op. and Mixer Op.) and fill out productiondocumentation completely and accurately. Must be able to use and readscales and thermometers.
