Job Description
Astroseal Products is a manufacturer of a non-woven metallic mesh used for lightning and shielding protection of composite structures. We offer highly competitive compensation, PTO and paid holidays, an excellent 401K plan with company match, and medical, dental, vision and life insurance.
We are currently seeking a Machine Operator to join our team for our Third Shift. Third Shift Team Members receive an additional shift differential. The Machine Operator will operate production machine tools following specified procedures for quality products. The Machine Operator will monitor machine operations, make quality visual checks and complete production paperwork and ERP entries.
Requirements

Essential Responsibilities:

Read job specifications/travelers/log tickets to determine material requirements.
Check coil stock at machine to verify correct material requirements.
Ensure correct position of material in take-up rolls, adjust, and secure work product.
Monitor multiple machines (high speed stamping press) that expand copper or aluminum metal.
Detect defects or machine malfunction and report defects and malfunctions to supervisor immediately.
Inspect product for visual defects such as broken strands and measure at key points using precision measuring instruments (i.e. precision magnifying loupe) to determine accuracy of machine operation during product cycle.
Log in and out of jobs, accurately enter log information in ERP system.
Perform minor machine maintenance, such as adding oil to machine reservoir.
Remove finished rolls and move to designated area with completed paperwork.
Wear common protective or safety equipment such as gloves, safety goggles, etc.
Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and clean work area.

Qualifications:

High School Graduate/GED.
One to three years related manufacturing experience, preferred.
Expanded mesh experience a plus.

Knowledge or Abilities:

Knowledge of basic math (i.e. compute square footage), the ability to read, understand and complete production paperwork.
Knowledge of machines, tools, production processes, and quality control.
Must be able to use production hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
Must be able to apply principles of logical thinking and mechanical ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and use judgement and data information to draw valid conclusions.
Strong organization skills, strict attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and prioritize as necessary.

Work Environment:

Constant (67-100%) use of hands and arms, reach, bending and moving about production machinery in a light manufacturing environment. Work is not sedentary. Frequent (34-66%) pushing, moving, lifting material weighing up to 80 pounds.
Regularly performs work in a medium production environment where individual is exposed to grease, chips, oil and normal production chemicals and hazards.
Exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration, and factory noise.
Business travel is not required.
