Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Coating Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and cleaning of equipment used in the coating process of pharmaceutical products. The role requires adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety standards, and quality control protocols to ensure the production of high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and monitor coating machines (e.g., perforated pan coaters or fluid bed coaters) to apply coatings to pharmaceutical tablets and other dosage forms. Perform equipment setup, calibration, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal machine performance. Maintain accurate documentation of batch records, production data, and machine logs according to GMP standards. Monitor and adjust process parameters (temperature, spray rate, etc.) to meet product specifications. Conduct inspections during the coating process to ensure quality and uniformity of coatings. Clean and maintain coating equipment and production area according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Collaborate with quality assurance and other departments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Identify and report deviations or equipment malfunctions to supervisors promptly.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in a technical field is a plus. Previous experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing or coating operations is highly preferred. Knowledge of GMP, SOPs, and quality assurance in a regulated environment. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Willingness to work shifts, weekends, or overtime as needed.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 70 pounds. Prolonged standing, bending, and operating equipment. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
