Newman Cigar Company is the country’s oldest family owned and operating cigar manufacturer and distributor. If you are looking to join our team of dedicated individuals, we have the position for you. The Cellophane Machine Operator is responsible for the operation of unique cellophane machines which places a cellophane wrap around a cigar. The operator has the responsibility of troubleshooting and resolving simple problems and monitoring the production line to ensure quality is maintained. The essential skills and experience require an individual who has the ability to: Sets up machine; loading, dies, and cellophane, and monitors to ensure equipment is running efficiently. Performs visual diagnostic checks and resolves simple equipment issues as needed. Follows work order, quality control and sanitation procedures Daily machine cleanup and changeovers. Performs quality control and material waste checks Performs pre-operational checks, including quality of materials. Maintains and exceeds production, quality and safety standards. Loads cigars into hopper and monitors production line flow. Maintains a clean, organized and safe work area. The requirements for consideration are High School diploma or equivalent GED Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English Ability to lift, push, pull up to 20 pounds Ability to push or pull carts weighing up to 80 pounds Must be able to use both hands simultaneously for machine operation and material handling Must be able to stand for extended periods during an 8-hour shift Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating machinery in a fast-paced production or manufacturing environment Physical Demands and Work Environment of the
