The Milling Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining woodworking machinery to cut, shape, and prepare lumber and wood products for framing and custom orders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machine operation, wood processing, and quality control, and must adhere to safety standards and production schedules.

Responsibilities Operate milling equipment, including planers, jointers, molders, and saws, to shape and finish lumber products. Review work orders, blueprints, or drawings to determine specifications and materials required. Measure, inspect, and verify materials before and after processing to ensure accuracy and quality. Set up machines to match specifications for each job; adjust settings and perform test runs when necessary. Maintain equipment by performing routine cleaning and basic maintenance to ensure proper functioning. Identify and resolve machine or material problems and escalate complex issues to supervisors. Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with company safety procedures and standards. Support production goals by meeting deadlines and quality expectations. Collaborate with team members, including carpenters, warehouse staff, and supervisors, to coordinate workflow. Perform inventory checks and report material needs to procurement or management. Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and company policies. Deliver excellent internal service to coworkers and supervisors, assisting where needed to ensure team success. Qualifications Proven experience operating woodworking/milling equipment Excellent knowledge of wood types, grains, and characteristics Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and job orders Strong attention to detail and quality Good communication and teamwork skills Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, results-driven environment Must be able to lift 50 lbs unassisted and push/pull heavy loads Ability to stand for long periods and perform physically demanding tasks Basic knowledge of computer systems and inventory tracking Ability to troubleshoot and resolve machinery issues independently Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the
U.S. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE EDUCATION
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 2-4 years of experience operating milling machinery or working in a lumberyard or wood manufacturing environment. Prior experience in a production or fabrication setting is preferred.
