Fiber Optics Assembler Position Available In Middlesex, Massachusetts

• SUMMARY:

• Under moderate supervision, fits and assembles fiber optics componentsand/or assemblies using common hand and power assembly tools. Works fromschematics, samples, written or verbal instructions. Requires highdegree of manual dexterity. Work is usually short to medium cyclerepetitive as part of an assembly line.

• ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reads work orders, follows production drawings and sample assemblies,or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
• Positions and aligns parts in specified relationship to each other injig, fixture, or other holding device.
• Crimps, screws, glues, epoxy, polishes, press fits, or performssimilar operations to join or secure parts in place.
• Assembles and attaches hardware, such as connectors, caps, andclamps, to assemblies when appropriate or required.
• Tends machines that polish, press, shape, align, or wind componentparts.
• Performs online testing and inspection to ensure parts and assembliesmeet production specifications and standards.
• Other duties as assigned

• EDUCATION and/or

EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to twoyears related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination ofeducation and experience.

• LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, shortcorrespondence, and/or memos. Ability to write simple procedural formsas needed. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one andsmall group situations to management and/or other employees of theorganization.

• MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure,using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

• REASONING ABILITY

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed butuninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problemsinvolving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

• PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularlyrequired to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach withhands and arms.

The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, andtalk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific visionabilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision,color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjustfocus.
