SADDLE STITCH MACHINE OPERATOR JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a skilled Saddle Stitch Machine Operator to join our fast-paced, state-of-the-art printing facility in Canton, MA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining saddle stitch equipment to produce high-quality booklets, catalogs, and other stitched materials. This role plays a key part in the final stages of production and requires a strong focus on quality, efficiency, and attention to detail.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Set up and operate saddle stitch machines (e.g., Muller Martini or equivalent) to meet job specifications and quality standards.
Review job tickets and specifications to ensure accurate setup, materials, and finishing requirements.
Monitor and adjust machine settings for proper operation, including feeders, stitchers, trimmers, and delivery systems.
Inspect finished products for accuracy, alignment, and overall quality; make adjustments as needed to ensure top-quality output.
Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Collaborate with the production team to meet schedules and deadlines.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with company policies and OSHA standards.
Assist with training and support of bindery team members as needed.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
High school diploma or equivalent required.
2+ years of experience operating saddle stitch machines in a commercial print or finishing environment preferred.
Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with bindery equipment operation and maintenance.
Ability to read and interpret job tickets, imposition layouts, and specifications.
Strong attention to detail and quality control.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a deadline-driven environment.
Capable of standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs.
