Die Cast Setup Technician Location:
High Point, NC Work Schedule:
Monday•Thursday, 5:00 AM•3:30 PM (10-hour shifts with a 30-minute lunch) Overtime may be required based on production demands.
Position Summary:
This role is responsible for installing, removing, and setting up die cast and trim dies while ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and production standards. The Setup Technician will lead the die setting team, troubleshoot equipment issues, and work to improve production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Die Setup & Operations:
Install and remove die cast and trim dies according to process book instructions. Set up spray systems, Fanuc robots, and ensure the first piece is ready for production. Identify and remove stuck parts from dies as needed. Ensure die setup sheets are accurately completed and submitted on time. Operate trim presses as needed to cover operator breaks or absences.
Process Improvement & Troubleshooting:
Detect and report improper operations, faulty equipment, or unusual conditions to supervisors. Diagnose and correct equipment or tooling issues. Work with Supervisors and Manufacturing teams to improve quality and efficiency. Maintain machine logs, documenting tool changes, issues, and corrective actions.
Technical & Safety Compliance:
Understand and operate Fanuc robots as part of the die-casting process. Maintain a clean and organized workplace. Follow all safety, quality, and manufacturing standards. Ensure proper documentation and continuity between shifts.
Team Leadership & Collaboration:
Lead the die setting team, ensuring adherence to procedures and safety guidelines. Support production operators by providing necessary materials and job setups. Build strong working relationships and promote teamwork.
Job Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Forklift License, Lockout/Tagout certification, and Crane License preferred. Experience in die casting, injection molding, or metal manufacturing is a plus. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Basic computer skills and ability to complete paperwork accurately. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Physical Requirements:
Stand, walk, bend, push, pull, and lift heavy components (up to 80 lbs). Work in a loud manufacturing environment that is not climate-controlled. Wear required PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed shoes.
