GENERAL SUMMARY
The Straight Edge Bander Operator is responsible for the set-up and overall operation of the Straight Edge Bander and the quality of the work produced.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Pull paperwork and order correct parts, select proper band and key in length and height specifications accord to job.
- Verify glue levels and that temperature is ideal for application
- Load parts into machine. When parts return, either offload or turn part for next banding operation
- Verify trim has a good edge, and adjust specs accordingly
- Run a single part to check for accuracy before running complete shop order
- Frequently complete quality checks, making sure that there are no cosmetic errors
- Process parts and off bear to proper container
- Complete proper ID tags with shop order number, part number, quantity and operation number
- Adjust bander height and length for next order
- Must be able to maintain the required adjusted average efficiency
- Use of proper Personal Protective Equipment required for machine/department
- Maintains assigned work areas in a clean and orderly fashion
- Responsible for housekeeping around the machine area
- Performs other duties, as assigned
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Experience Required:
Required Length & Type of Experience:
- At least three to six months mechanical and manufacturing experience.
- Experience using utility knives in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. May require the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. May require the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of and basic computer skills.
- Proficiency in computer-based design programs and WRMD proprietary software is required
- This position requires the ability to grasp design and engineering principles and to understand the manufacturing process.
The Engineering Clerk must have good oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
