GENERAL SUMMARY

This position bales scrap materials to be recycled and maintains records as required. Associate will also maintain batteries for industrial power trucks. Associate will be required to operate power train, power truck, baler, and sweeper. Performs general maintenance for impression rollers and cylinder bearing in the printing department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Obeys all plant/safety rules and complies with all OSHA regulations.
• Collects and evaluates scrap material from various departments to sort as applicable and place into baler to be converted into bales.
• Evaluates various types of scrap and strives for optimum salvage.
• Operates mechanical equipment in recycling scrap material.
• Operates wire binder on baler.
• Maintains weight of bales for record keeping.
• Places bale in storage area for disposal.
• Reports repairs needed for train cars and gondolas to supervisor.
• Maintains operation of batteries for all industrial power trucks.
• Maintains power truck batteries to prolong the batteries and chargers life.
• Maintains records pertaining to the history of chargers on a weekly and batteries on a daily basis.
• Inspects impression rollers for damage and makes necessary repairs.
• Maintains good housekeeping practices and proper safety procedures.
• Performs other duties assigned.

Experience Required:

Required Length & Type of Experience:

• Mechanical knowledge is recommented

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Must have the ability to read, write, and perform simple math.
• Power truck, tugger and sweeper skills/ certification.
• Ability to make rational and reasonable decisions independently.
• Must have good oral communication skills.
• Mechanically inclined

Education Required:

High School Diploma or GED
