Purpose:
Spider supplies components to the assembly lines in a timely manner for the line to meet or exceed its takt time. They supply both finished products and sub-assembly components to the lines. They are required to locate the correct component parts in the supermarket that will be used on the line. A Spider must be trained to use a safety utility knife, be able to lift 42 pounds, maneuver a cart that transports the component parts to the line, and be able to read a picklist. The spider’s position requires good eye & hand coordination. Spiders work in the assembly and sub-assembly areas that require job rotation among all lines. Spiders are required to read and understand Bill of Materials and Picklist.
Nature & Scope:
Spiders are required to have good verbal and written communication skills. Spiders may work in teams of two while others work independently to obtain company goals. They are also required to read and follow standard work. Periodically spiders are required to attend additional job training to ensure continuous improvement. This position reports to the Department Group Leader.
Dimensions:
Follow JIT systems to ensure that the appropriate materials are at the work areas at the right time
Distribute materials, products, parts, and supplies to appropriate departments or individuals, based on information from incoming pick tickets/BOM.
Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition
Detect and report defective materials or equipment issues
Follow all safety processes and procedures
Meet delivery target
Reduce cost while continuing to produce quality items
Deliver parts to standards
