Job Title:
Laser Operator Job Description As a Laser Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining laser cutting or engraving machines used in manufacturing or fabrication. Your role involves interpreting blueprints or CAD drawings, selecting appropriate materials, adjusting machine settings, ensuring quality control, and performing routine maintenance. Precision, safety awareness, and attention to detail are key skills for this role. Responsibilities Set up and operate laser cutting or engraving machines. Maintain laser machines and perform routine maintenance. Interpret blueprints or CAD drawings to determine machine settings. Select appropriate materials for cutting or engraving. Adjust machine settings for optimal performance. Ensure quality control throughout the production process. Adhere to safety standards and protocols. Essential Skills Operating manufacturing machines. Flexibility and openness to perform tasks outside of core responsibilities. Ability to work individually and in a team. Growth mindset and strong attendance record. Knowledge of machine operation and basic troubleshooting. Attention to detail. Mechanical aptitude and experience. Desire to work in a job shop, learn the equipment and processes, take on more every week, and advance with the company. Additional Skills & Qualifications Operating automated laser cutters, burn tables, plasma tables, press brake and punch press machines. Machine set-ups and product changeovers. Mechanical and technical adjustments for set-ups, changeovers, and troubleshooting. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and/or CAD drawings. Experience with sheet metal fabrication. Skill in using tape measures and other precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges. Welding. Why Work Here? Work Environment You will work in a mid-sized, 30-person fabrication shop that includes paint, press brake, welding, and assembly processes. The shop is growing and has added 6-7 new customers in 2024. The work involves production welding in dedicated welding bays, across two buildings on site. Materials include mild steel ranging from 20 gauge to 1 inch. The shift runs from Monday to Thursday, 5:30 am to 3:30 pm, with optional overtime on Fridays. Paid breaks and a 20-minute paid lunch are provided. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dunlap, Tennessee.
