Technically orientated and knowledgeable in manufacturing systems. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Proficient in computer programs.

Primary Responsibilities Tool Setter:

A Tool setter is an individual who efficiently and safely takes out and installs molds into the appropriate machine for processing of plastic components. This includes color changes and supporting the Lead.

  • Confers with Supervisor to determine molds to be changed and discuss priorities and set up instructions. Must assure that all Lock Out / Tag Out and all safety PPE is followed at all times. Must be able to work assigned overtime to cover all customer demands as assigned. Complete all change over sheets and all paperwork that applies to various stages of production.
  • Complete required documentation relating to business or regulatory requirements.
  • At the end of production run, cleans molds by using a mold safe spray to prevent corrosion.
  • Removes and re-installs all corresponding secondary equipment related to mold set up.
  • Executed the preventive maintenance in the Tools.
  • Troubleshoots to correct technical and process problems.

Participate in the development and implementation of all line improvements. Efficiently and safely incorporate SMED into all tool changes Once the new Mold is installed verify that the new program or Set-Up is loaded and all functions like Ejector stroke and distance, Machine Nozzle, and E.O.A.T. (end of arm tooling) are installed and functioning properly. (If the job requires E.O.A.T.) Once Tool change is complete, before starting the machine verify the material is drying at the proper temp. and est. time for dry material is written on dry erase sheet on the dryer.

  • Assists on all product and process improvement projects carrying out necessary calculations in modifying generating blueprints.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other departments to enable achievement of engineering objectives.
  • Liaise with vendors and department supervisors on an on-going basis, taking appropriate action in their support as required.
  • Maintains good housekeeping, good work procedures, safety standards and adheres to company policy in relation to wearing protective equipment.
  • Follow rules that apply to clean room.
Education / Skills

Preferred

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Reading and understanding technical processes check list and diagrams.
  • Good teamwork skills.
  • Working knowledge of Injection Molding Set-up process and plastic processing in Injection Molding.
  • Ability to learn basic functions in QAD.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Lean manufacturing and continual process improvement experience.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.   • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to push or pull bins and carts, stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
  • You must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to fifteen (15) pounds. With the correct equipment, lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. With the correct equipment, occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred (100) pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work is performed in an
ISO 13485

clean room.

  • Dress code per Gowning SOP.
