70th St, Shreveport, LA 71108 Earnest Contracting is seeking experienced Rotomill Operators for our asphalt paving crews. Milling is an integral part of the construction cycle of any road. Therefore, the Milling Operator needs to be skilled and focused to assure a quality product. To ensure success as a Milling Operator you will need a deep understanding of all aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction, and other details related to asphalt paving.

Job Description:

Work under the immediate supervision of the foreman and/or superintendent. Responsible for control and operation of one or more types of milling equipment. Operates milling equipment (Milling Machine or Cold Planer) to properly mill asphalt/concrete to desired specifications based on usage. Manipulates hand or foot levers to control movements of the milling machine that mills asphalt and concrete on roadways and related surfaces such as parking lots, streets, etc. May perform other related duties, such as preventive maintenance and clean-outs on all milling machinery. The operator is responsible for the efficient working condition of the equipment and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor. Keep company vehicles, tools, and equipment clean and orderly, informing management of any safety concerns. Comply with all E-CON policies, procedures, and safety requirements. Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects. Keep machines clean/maintained and notify the foreman of any equipment mechanical problems. Must have the initiative, ability, and willingness to perform and assist with other job positions for job completion as requested (i.e. putting down temporary striping, flagging, etc.).

Experience Required/Desired:

1+ years prior experience operating a variety of heavy equipment. 1+ years of milling equipment operation and related asphalt & road construction experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Thorough understanding of all aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction, and other details related to asphalt paving. A sound understanding of pertinent safety guidelines. Capacity to provide and follow directions. Sharp decision-making skills, particularly when under pressure. Ability to work extended hours, as required. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Work environments will vary making it necessary to tolerate weather conditions, such as rain and extreme temperatures.
