Imagine Staffing is recruiting an experienced fabricator/ test operatoron behalf of our client, a national leader within the manufacturing of specific reduction machinery, headquarters located in Buffalo, NY. In this role, you’ll be working within a dynamic team of top fabricating professionals to manufacture, develop, and test machinery and equipment utilized in waste reduction systems. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with customers to design custom applications and solutions that will transform their best-in-class product offerings.
Role & Responsibility:
Perform and assist in material testing as needed by the Sales department. Maintain safety and cleanliness in Test Lab. Utilize the machinery in the shop to produce work pieces that will be used in the final assembly, or to produce replacement parts for existing customers, with an emphasis on hard-facing various replacement parts. Lay out, fit and assemble components, using fixtures, hand tools, and portable power tools, such as grinders, drills and impact wrenches. Tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding. Set up equipment and weld parts. Perform balancing on components. Receive and study specifications, drawings and work orders for the job. Select equipment and plan layouts, assembly and welding, apply knowledge of geometry, as well as physical properties of metal machining weld shrinkage and welding techniques. Lay out and examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met. Discuss material and equipment requirements with Supervisors and Purchasing to ensure that all material and equipment is on-hand or on order for the job. Position specified motors, drives, bearings, clutches, hydraulics and other component parts in housings on frame of machine. Align and level parts with spacers and shims, and set clearance between parts using micrometers, feeler gauges, calipers and scale. Bolt cover plates, electric motors and hydraulic pumps to machine frame in their specified locations. Inspect machined parts and mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and conveyance components to verify conformance to specifications. Operate crane/jib to move material and other components to/from and within assembly area. Lay out and install hydraulic hoses on assembled units and connect hoses to pumps and specified settings. Determine reference points and verify dimensions. Test operation of final assemblies prior to shipping; and perform inspections on final work pieces as necessary. Fabricate metal parts and items as needed. Skills & Experience Adhere to safety procedures at all times. With little supervision, perform all duties at a consistently high proficiency. Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications, to determine dimensions, tolerances and layout of work. Ability to work from jigs. Ability to perform basic shop math. Knowledge of welding and related trade procedures such as brazing, soldering, flame and arc cutting, surface hardening, annealing and metal spraying. Knowledge of the characteristics of various metals and how they react to different welding processes and techniques. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, machined and conveyance components and the ability to incorporate these components into the final assembly. Ability to safely use all shop machinery, including, but not limited to: Drill press Punch machine Cut saw Press brake Shearing machine Milling machine Roll press Wood saw Burning equipment and other related equipment Hard facing equipment Overhead crane Hammer mills, conveyors and dust collection equipment; and Fork truck Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment. Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly. Strong Organizational skills and keeping of a testing database. Helps identify new and better processes to test customer materials. Communicate ideas or concepts to others. Ability to prioritize multiple projects. Enthusiastic, cooperative, and positive. Possess an eye for details to support creating procedures that are sustainable and executable. Be a team player and team motivator.
