We are seeking a seasoned

  • Mold Maker
  • who is experienced with all phases of precision mold construction.

The position will support planning and mold building activities for new plastic injection molds as well troubleshooting/evaluating and repairing molds running approved production in our Molding Division.

Primary duties will include:

(a) planning and machining of cavity and core components to support new tooling programs; (b) mold troubleshooting and conditioning efforts to support new molds during pre-production trials; (c) evaluating and conditioning transfer tools received from customers; (d) troubleshooting and maintaining/repairing components in existing production molds as needed (e) inspecting machined steel to verify dimensions and ensure both steel and molded parts are to print; (f) fitting and assembling parts and/or complete molds to check fit and function; and (g) communicating regularly with Mold Makers, Mold Designers, Engineers and QA personnel on continuous improvement project requests, work progress and production activities.

Interested candidates should meet the following preferred requirements: (a) at least 4 — 6 years of mold building experience in a precision tooling or machine shop environment; (b) significant experience using diverse tool room machinery (such as precision surface grinders, die sink EDM machinery, CNC Mills, CNC EDMs, etc.); (c) experience with the construction and troubleshooting of laminate tooling and precision connector molds; (d) detailed knowledge of shop mathematics, mold construction and assembly / disassembly procedures; (e) ability to use shop equipment typically found in a precision mold building facility; (f) ability to read 2D/3D mechanical blue print drawings and (g) ability to utilize a personal computer for basic daily tasks (such as email communication, print viewing, etc.). In addition, the position will require an individual who can organize his/her own work, set priorities to meet time deadlines and use initiative and independent judgement to bring tasks to completion in an efficient and cost effective manner. The ability to communicate effectively and work as a member of a team in a dynamic and fast paced work environment is essential.
