Injection Molding Process Technician Interactive Resources LLC Chattanooga, TN 37401 •We are hiring multiple Process Technicians for our fast-growing facility in Sparta, TN. There are both day and night shift positions available. Relocation $$ is available for anyone located outside of the Sparta, TN area•

Day and night shifts available (12-hour shift on a 2-2-3 schedule) Job Profile Summary & Purpose The Process Technician is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of injection molding and blow molding machinery, ensuring the smooth operation of production lines for plastic bottle manufacturing. This role involves performing essential maintenance tasks to prevent machine downtime, resolving mechanical and operational issues, and completing department quality system paperwork. Additionally, the Processor will conduct regular inspections and checks on both machinery and products, maintaining high standards for both equipment performance and product quality.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Machine Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

Perform routine and preventive maintenance on injection molding, blow molding, and reheat machinery to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and operational issues with molding machinery, utilizing diagnostic tools, manuals, and hands-on experience to resolve issues quickly. Regularly inspect machinery for wear and tear, ensuring that all components such as molds, hydraulic systems, nozzles, and cooling systems are functioning properly. Adjust machine settings (e.g., temperature, pressure, cycle time, injection speed) to meet production specifications and ensure smooth, efficient operation. Perform mold changes on both injection and blow molding machines, ensuring proper alignment and secure installation to maintain production efficiency. Safely resolve machinery jams and perform emergency repairs when needed, ensuring minimal downtime and preventing disruptions to the production process.

Production Support:

Safely operate multiple machines, tools, or equipment while performing production tasks. Consistently wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including bump caps, hair/beard nets, safety glasses, gloves, earplugs, and safety shoes. Conduct inspections of finished products to detect defects and ensure that quality standards are met, packaging items appropriately for shipment. Monitor machine controls during production runs to ensure proper functioning and identify potential issues before they cause downtime or defects. Collaborate closely with Quality Control teams to guarantee that all products meet the required quality standards and specifications. Complete necessary documentation for departmental quality systems and maintain accurate records for machine maintenance and product inspections.

Safety & Cleanliness:

Follow lock-out/tag-out procedures to safely service and maintain machinery, adhering to company and industry safety standards. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including tasks such as sweeping, removing trash, and restocking packing materials, in line with the 5S methodology. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and recommend process enhancements to improve machine performance, reduce downtime, and increase productivity.

Work Environment:

The employee will be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The employee may need to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Proper use of PPE is always mandatory.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to remain stationary for extended periods. Regularly move around the production floor. Communicate effectively with subordinates and team members. Position oneself at ground level when necessary. Regularly move, adjust, and position items weighing between 10 to 45 lbs. Be able to identify, assess, and handle documents, machinery, and other equipment.

Required Education/Experience:

In-depth experience with injection molding and blow molding machinery maintenance is a must , including familiarity with the troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of these machines. Strong mechanical, electrical, and operational troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues promptly. Experience in performing mold changes and machine setup adjustments to ensure smooth production processes. Ability to multitask and handle various responsibilities efficiently, balancing machine maintenance tasks with production requirements. Proficient in completing required documentation for maintenance, quality checks, and production reports. Ability to work collaboratively with other team members, including Quality Control and maintenance staff, to ensure equipment performance and product quality are always at their best. #IND2
