Hourly Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Dredging Assistant to support our field operations. This role involves assisting with the setup and operation of dredging equipment, laying and securing slurry hoses, maintaining clean and functional work areas using power washers, and working closely with the dredge team to ensure efficient and safe operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Hose Management:
Lay out, secure, and reposition suction and discharge hoses as needed during dredging operations. Inspect for leaks and obstructions.
Power Washing:
Use industrial-grade power washers to clean equipment, work areas, and support vehicles to maintain a safe and efficient worksite.
Dredge Operation Support:
Assist with daily startup/shutdown procedures, monitor dredging equipment, and communicate any issues to the lead operator.
Equipment Handling:
Help load, unload, and transport hoses, pumps, and other heavy equipment. Operate support tools and machinery under supervision.
Safety & Compliance:
Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE. Remain alert to potential hazards and actively contribute to a safe work environment.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with the dredge operator and crew, taking direction and contributing to a productive workflow.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred Previous experience in construction, dredging, or industrial labor preferred Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly and work in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions Comfortable working in and around water, on barges or floating platforms Must pass a drug test and background check Willingness to travel and work extended shifts or weekends if needed
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with dredge equipment or slurry systems Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting CPR/First Aid or OSHA certification a plus Join our team and be a part of maintaining and restoring critical water infrastructure.
